  • The government is not providing basic facilities in Dani Limda and Juhapura are of Ahmedabad

Leader of opposition in the State Assembly Shaktisinh Gohil has said that the BRTS project should be people oriented and not propaganda oriented. In the past during the NDA rule not a single paisa was given to any city of Gujarat for urban development under the JnNURM or any other scheme. The Central Government has given Rs.26.95 crore funds for the first phase of BRTS from Vasna to RTO and Rs.87.5 crore for the second phase of the project.
The state government has contributed only Rs.11.55 crore for the BRTS project. Despite this the project is being projected as Chief Minister’s project. The Central government has given Rs.2,49,769.32 lakh for four cities of Gujarat during the last year under the JnNURM scheme. Besides, Ahmedabad is receiving huge amount of money from the central government for many development works.
The state had received only Rs.1,799.48 lakh in 2003-04 during the last year of the NDA regime. While in 2008-09 the UPA government released Rs.6,389.09 crore. In addition huge amount has been given to the state under the JnNURM, NREGA and natural calamity. Last year Ahmedabad got Rs.52.592 lakh, Rajkot got Rs.45.585 lakh, Surat Rs.3416 lakh and Vadodara Rs.8168 lakh for providing basic amenities to urban poor, the centre gave Rs.1,14257 lakh to Gujarat last year for EWS housing project.
The BRTS project has been possible due to financial assistance of Central government.

The state government gets funds from the Centre for women and child welfare. But is has wasted Rs.500 lakh in one year from the funds on Chief Minister’s speeches by organizing mahila sammelans. Leader of opposition Shaktisinh Gohil declared the above details obtained through RTI.

Gohil has written a letter to Comptroller and Auditor General and demanded that Rs.500 lakh wasted by the Chief Minister on political speeches should be recovered and used for women and child welfare.
